Maryland Moves to Ban Declawing Cats

Hopefully the bill passes. But a $1000.00 fine for illegal declawings isnt enough.
The fine should go to both the practioner AND the owner AND any other party involved,, ie the person bringing in the cat, or picking it up from the practioner. After administrative fees for running the program and collecting the fees are paid, the remainder should be put towards public education preventing declawing.
Lets see if any politicians have the courage and morality to do that.

This is wonderful news!
I agree that more still needs to be done to protect cats from being subjected to this painful procedure, but it's a step in the right direction.
