Long Hair Cat Diet??

I have a long haired kitten. Should I be giving him something for hair balls? He is not showing any signs of being unhealthy. Just wondering for maintenance. Thanks!

To prevent hairballs, most people just give a hairball remedy or something like a raw egg yolk or eg yolk powder in addition to frequent brushing. You don't need hairball specific food, many of which are pretty junky and unhealthy. Here's some info: How Best to Manage Hairballs

Hairball cat food doesn't do squat for either of my cats. Plus I've yet to see canned versions of it. Aside from hills which is very overpriced for the ingredients.

Canned food really is better and helps digestion by adding water to the diet. I've found brushing is the best way to keep hairballs under control, I use a furminator on Indy, she is short haired but has a very thick undercoat. I get a good baseball sized clump of hair off her with the furminator usually during peak shedding season.
