Hello,

I’ve never lived with cats until now with my roommate’s cats. One of them was annoyed because I was holding her and sunk one of her claws into my forehead. I used hydrogen peroxide on the puncture wound and neosporin. Is there anything I should look out for that would mean I need to go to a doctor?

Thank you!

Treat it as any other wound. If it gets infects, starts swelling or oozing, etc a trip to the doctor would be best.

There are TCS threads on the topic of what do about cat bites, including some with pictures of infected wounds:

Sorry about the injury. Just an FYI, when dealing with a cat that doesn’t know you well, you always want to let them come to you not try to hold them. If the cat isn’t totally comfortable with you it is easy for them to get suddenly spooked and lash out with claws or teeth.
