I have a new cat-loving friend!

Our street had a block party in May, and we got chatting with a lady who lives in the cul-de-sac. She wanted to get together, so...I've been emailing her, and invited her over for lunch today. I think she had a good time. She met 2 of the cats. She LOVES cats, and has 4 of her own. They are her life (she's single, and I think has no more family).

She loved our house and the garden.  She seems to like many of the same things as I do, so I hope this is the beginning of a nice friendship. Neither one of us has ever made friends in the neighborhood before.

Before she left, she gave me a big hug, and I suggested that we get together very soon. She seemed to want to do so!

It's difficult to find kindred spirits, so when they turn up in your street, that's such a bonus.
