The strangest thing just happened! I have a photo of my bridge cat, Hannah, up as my desktop background right now (I change them every few days.) I have a large 22" monitor, so the photo is more or less life-sized.
I was about to shut down the computer for the night and before I did I pointed to the screen and said, "Sheba, look who 's here!" (Sheba lived with Hannah for about 10 months before Hannah went to the bridge.)
Sheba looked for a second and then suddenly her eyes got as big as saucers. She stood up, her head began bobbing up and down and side to side as her nose twitched. She got on my lap and onto the desk and gingerly sniffed the monitor. Then, she went BEHIND the monitor, "looking" for Hannah! I was flabbergasted!!!
Never in a million years did I think she could comprehend and recognize a PHOTO (although she does LOVE watching TV). I feel bad now that I tricked her, as Sheba grieved Hannah's death pretty hard when it happened. I also have always known Sheba is extremely smart for a cat--but this takes the cake!
Has anyone else tried this???
