Hi everyone!

How do you prevent a cat from parasites year round?

Also does anyone know if the diarrhea pcr panel tests for heart worms?

Responsible and caring cat guardians pretty much agree on keeping cats indoors only, or in secure catios/cat enclosures *google this if you're unfamiliar with it* to keep cats safe and healthier. If necessary, though, Advantage is the only flea topical I have ever trusted. Tapeworm Tabs are available at Petco.com and elsewhere to rid cats of tapeworms. Tapeworms are caused by eating fleas or their hosts (typically small rodents which are cats' prey in the wild).

Heartworms are rare in cats. I don't remember all the reasons why but they aren't the concern that they are in dogs. The panel done is usually done first and it depends on where the parasite is at in the life cycle as to rather it picks up what it is. Keeping a cat indoors is the best protection. It isn't 100% because we can bring them into the house. The panel done for intestinal parasites does not pickup heartworms, they are found with a blood test.
