That's funny. I can't remember which costume I had specifically but I sure remember those awful plastic masks that you couldn't breathe in.

That was too fancy for us. We had a cheap naugahyde knockoff set.

Ah, the things we did for all that candy!
In my neighborhood we couldn't do any bad tricks, the neighbors knew us and would have told our parents.

AbbysMom - My Parents wouldn't buy Naugahyde. Mom said that she always imagined the Naugahs playing innocently in a pastoral setting, and that the senseless killing of Naughas upset her.

I had a few like that. I don't remember when those went out of fashion. I just remember by mid elementary school we would make my costumes out of things we could find.

My mom usually made most of my Halloween costumes or bought something from a thrift store that could be adapted for the occasion, which were later recycled as pajamas or something useful. I can still remember those costumes as if it were yesterday, but danged if I can remember the one she bought for me that I absolutely had to have!

I am really telling my age here. When I grew up, there was no trick or treating in our neighborhood. I never had a costume.
