Good day, please can you all assist. The love of my life, my Trin, male cat, 15 years of age, has developed very bad gingivitis. He had to have 7 teeth extracted and the remaining were cleaned in the hopes that everything would be sorted. This is unfortunately not the case. We initially thought that the healing of the procedure was causing more irritation after eating. But on further investigation, the gingivitis is back. I had to make the decision as to whether I should use Metacam on a daily basis where Trin's quality of life would not be 100% or to rather try a Depo shot in hopes that he would only have to get another Depo shot after about 6 weeks to 2 months. I have no issue about administering Metacam every day but was told by my vet that the Depo shot would be a better alternative and that Trin's quality of life on a day to day basis would be better. I am however fully aware of the long term side effects of steriod use. I hate that he is going through this and would do anything to ease his pain. Any input from any of you regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Have you thought about having the rest of the teeth removed. In severe cases sometimes full mouth extractions are needed. Best to consult with a dental specialist.
