I have several small grow lights, but needed a larger one since I will be starting more seed this year. I bought a shop light (4ft) but I didn't have a stand for it. I am trying to do things as cheaply as possible since my husbands medical bills are starting to roll in and we have a smaller income since he had to retire. I was about to give up having a stand for the light and return it since I didn't want to invest more $$ in building a stand. Then I remembered 2 cat scratchers I had set aside to refurbish. I simply removed the worn rope, added hooks to hang the light on and now I have a light stand! Of course it isn't pretty but it is in a spare room so no one sees it. After the season I can remove the hooks, refurbish the scratchers and have 2 brand new (almost) scratching posts for the cats. By next season, I should have a stand built. Now if would just get warm enough to garden!!!!
I love finding ways to re-use things I already have.
