I’m in a seasonal climate- I noticed my
Cat has been finishing every meal and super excited every meal, compared to like a month ago when she barely finished both meals and didnt seem care to get food when it was meal time. It just finally turned cold the last couple weeks and I noticed this changed. Does hot/cold climate impact how much more they eat? She’s about 8 lbs and gets about 180 cal a day. I don’t want to bump that up since she already seems a bit on the heavy side. I already feel like 180 is a bit more than what she should be getting Thoughts?

I suppose it depends on the individual cat but our guy has an increased appetite also and the temperature has dropped at least 20 degrees. He's also more playful which I know has a lot to do with the weather especially since he's a long haired cat. I'm sure the combination of the cooler temps and being more active has had an affect on his appetite.

Keeping a body warms uses up calories so not surprisingly colder weather results in animals eating more food for the calories.
