I posted here 3 weeks ago trying to figure out what has happened to our 1.5 yr old cat. The vets are stumped. I finally figured it out on my own. He has
Feline Hyperesthesia syndrome. Any help appreciated. Meds?

All I can suggest is Google "Cat FHS" I read that there are different opinions on how to treat that Syndrome. Good luck !

Nothing in your previous thread (Our 1.5 old male showing mental confusion/vet stumped | TheCatSite) even remotely suggests FHS.

Did you ever pursue full scale blood work? What I saw in your previous thread sounds more like a chemical/electrolyte/metabolic imbalance. If you didn't get blood work done as a starting point and your current vet doesn't want to go there, then find another vet. I am only a layperson, but from what your previous thread described, it doesn't sound like FHS to me at all.

:yeah:
It would be to your cat's benefit to get a second opinion especially in your case where you said your present vet is stumped. Have you mentioned the possibility of FHS to your vet? Even if it turns out you are right and your cat has FHS you would need a veterinarian to properly monitor and treat your cat. Another option for a second opinion would be to consult with an Internal Medical Specialist.
Good luck, please keep us posted.

I had a cat who had FHS, diagnosed by the vet, and the symptoms you described previously do not sound like that condition to me either. Once again, we are not vets, so this is only an opinion. However, Chelsea did not exhibit the behaviors you listed, even in the midst of a FHS episode.

If it is FHS, there are meds such as gabapentin, but your vet would need to prescribe them.
