Four years ago this very month, I had a mole removed from my back. Then, I had the wait until the results came through. I got those at the beginning of January 2005 (the day before our beautiful Lily came home to us). It turned out that the mole was cancerous. It was a malignant melanoma. My world turned upside down in an instant.
I had plastic surgery to ensure there was no cancer left and have had four years of (in the words of my Consultant) being stared at and prodded every few monthsto make sure that nothing nasty came back. I was very fortunate not to need any further treatment.
Well, I've been counting off the visits - I thought I would have two more left. Today, I went for my examination and the Dr talked with the Consultant. Things have been so good and I caught the cancer early, so they are as sure as sure can be that it will NOT come back
Today, I was officially declared cancer free, discharged from the Dr and do not need to be stared at and prodded anymore!!!!!!!!!
Hubby and I opened a bottle that had been chilling in the fridge since our holiday to France in the summer. We had visited the Noilly Prat Vermouth distillery in Marseillan and brought back a bottle of their Amber vermouth.Originally Posted by Rosiemac

It's going to be FANTASTIC not to have to be prodded and stared at every couple of months. I'm very grateful for all the care the Drs took, but won't miss those examinationsOriginally Posted by CATTYBIRD
Congratulations!. Isn't it wonderful when your not prodded and poked and examined all the time?
Ah yes, you definitely do understand the relief. Congratulations to you too for fighting the fight and coming out the other side of that battleOriginally Posted by Kai Bengals

Oh believe me, no danger of me being complacent - but it is a warning well worth giving. I am one of those strange skin cancer patients who didn't sunbatheOriginally Posted by Pookie-poo
Congratulations! That is wonderful news....great cause for celebration!!!
Now PLEASE don't become complacent. When you go for your 'yearly', please get checked out. Melanoma is a sneaky one, and you need to stay vigilant!
Have a glass of wine for me too!!!
Thank you Kelly!Originally Posted by clixpix
