I bought a carved pendant on etsy. There's Chinese on the back, but, since it's so light-colored and carved, my Google Translate app can photograph it, but it doesn't work. I think I could make it easier to see if I post a pic here, though. Thanks!

margecat margecat you need someone who can read Chinese, not speak it. I wish I could help. I bet my Mother could have helped. May she be resting in peace; actually I know She is in Heaven. Next time I see friend of Chinese descent I could ask him, because he can. Sorry I cannot help you with this. I too, am interested in learning those beautiful symbols. (sheesh, probably take a lifetime to learn.)

margecat margecat I think you could find University online that would help you with pendant translation. I have called University in the past and asked for different specialists to help me with other Chinese & Asian things and have been given answers happily and expeditiously. Hope this helps, of course with the hideous Covid 19 it most probably be online. :silver: 👨‍🏫👩‍🏫

Alrighty so I can't speak Chinese at all, but I know someone who does!

It isn't the most clear to her but she says possibly along the lines of "I am mellow/peaceful" "I am mellow as sky/day and cloud"

(One of the words can also mean "Alcohol")

I hope that helps a little bit! Anyone of course is free to make corrections 👍

Yes, she thought it was in Mongolian--which looks nothing like Chinese.

A friend was able to make his Google Translate work, and it says "righteous spirit" A Mongolian friend, who speaks Chinese, also said "Righteous".

I can't read all of the kanji, but the top one means justice, the third one means cloud and the fourth one means heaven.

Japanese and Chinese use similar kanji, but phrases don't always translate correctly.
