Hello,
We are happy owners of the female Devon Rex. Our cat is 12 years old and generally has no health issues. Recently we noticed few small black stains on her skin. She is under regular vet observation but he has not much know-how about this particular race so we are worried. Have anyone from you similar problem or an idea what is it ?

Hi. In a quick search on this site, I did not find any similar posts, but I know from reading about various breeds and the propensity toward certain conditions.

One can be coagulation issues. Could those spots you see be bruising? If so, it might mean a Vitamin K deficiency. That would be something that your vet could test for. Usually, easily treatable with Vit K supplements.

The other I know of is overly thin hair/balding which can be an issue over time for a cat that spends time in the sun.

Since those spots would seem to be skin related, have you considered consulting with an internal med specialist? One who is part of a larger specialty group that has a dermatologist on staff would be a big plus.

It seems there are many breed-related cat sites that more than likely include one for Devon Rex cats - have you looked to see if there are, and if so, perhaps some of the members have had personal experience with the issue your girl is having.

I hope you hear from others with some ideas soon!

Hello I have a devon rex kitten that is also black! he was really hairy when he was younger but at around 2 months of age most of their fur falls off and slowly grows back (I adopted him when he was 3 months old but the breeder had pictures of him as a baby) after his fur fell off I can see many black spots on the kittens skin. they are all differnt shapes and sizes and randomly placed. I assumed they were birth marks! they don't look dry, they aren't raised, not itchy. do you know if your cat had them before? or have they suddenly appeared? maybe my response is not helpful but I hope your kitty is okay!
