My female cat is 7 months old and has just started getting into heat ( i believe it started for her last month), i want to get her neutered but I want to ask about what should i do before the surgery, i know that i shouldn't give her any food but for how long? And if giving her water is okay or not? Thank you all.

Hi! Welcome! The food fasting time period seems to be different depending on the vet, can you email or call? Water usually isn't an issue but check about that anyway, they may want her tummy to be really empty.

HI there merimeri merimeri Welcome to TCS.

Do you have an appointment to get your cat spayed? Has she already been seen by a vet? By 7 months old she should have already had her core vaccines, so I guess she will have been.

Fasting times depends on the vet, as different clinics use different medications and some come with more dangers of causing vomiting than others. Ask your vet what they recommend, but it's usually 6 to 12 hours.

Keep us posted on how it all goes
