silly question. but my cats internal medicine vet as been out of the country for at least 3 months and the office dont know when she'll be back. we have discussed maybe putting my cat on a predinisone trail but at that time it wasnt really needed.. well its needed now. i thought maybe going to our regular vet but im afraid she'll say she prefers my cat being treated by a internal medicine vet instead, and then i would of wasted a trip and have to deal with an extremely aggressive cat for the rest of the day for no reason

Yes, a general, non-specialist vet will be able to prescribe prednisilone. However, he will likely want to examine your cat and your cat's records. It would be best to call up your vet and ask what he needs. Also contact the specialist's office to have any tests and records transferred to your vet so you don't have to repeat the diagnostics.

Do you know the dosage of prednisolone you discussed with the Internal Medical Specialist? It would be helpful if you see your regular vet but hopefully the specialist noted it in your cat's medical history.

If the cat is that difficult to get to the vet, call first and have a phone consultation with the actual vet (not the receptionist or the tech). Make sure they're willing to prescribe it and not just palm you off to a specialist. That way you won't waste a trip.

i called yesterday. receptionist said i would need to schedule a visit, i didnt.

im wondering if i should just change her diet to rabbit instead. but the foods i found are high in calories. shes a big kitty. i dont feed her anything thats over 400 calories. so maybe keep venison dry and change to rabbit wet food? she didnt like the venison wet food from instinct. and thats what i would try for rabbit. so im afraid she hate that too. really wish i can just buy 1 can instead of a whole case. ugh, so frustrating!

My Krista hated Instinct. It made her vomit. Reliably. So I learned to hate it too.

Have you considered Rawz Rabbit Pate? Krista loved that! Treated her real well too.

Depends on the cat. But for a cat who is sensitive to chicken, chicken liver is likely going to be an irritant or allergen. Krista could have turkey but not chicken. She liked Fancy Feast Turkey pate but it had "poultry giblets" which had enough chicken in it to be inflammatory with her. 😿 This is why I loved Rawz. No protein mixing. I mostly bought Rawz online, a case at a time because Krista was going through so much of it--as much as 10 oz a day. Lymphoma was robbing her of calories. 😿 I live in California so I preferred to order from Incredible Pets. I've probably ordered from most of the online vendors though. Incredible Pets was my favorite. Free shipping and incredibly fast.
