Should i be concerned? My cat has always had watery eyes. The vet was never concerned about it even though I mentioned it to him. He said it could just be allergies. But now she has this black gunk. Ive wiped it off a few times. I am low on money so i dont want to run to the vet unless its serious. Please help.
edit: my cats are indoor only and arent exposed to other animals.

That looks like the black gunk (elegantly known as eye boogers) cats often have. It’s dried tears, essentially, iirc. Both mine have them. If there are no symptoms suggesting anything amiss, like sneezing, coughing and the like, I would guess that’s all it is, and no cause for concern.

As said above, its eye boogers, dried tears, just wipe them with a warm damp cloth. They may stop on their own but if they become greenish in colour there may be something going on and a vet visit is needed.

Yes, nothing to bring to a vet for unless she gets worse and has a thick, green, or white discharge. Most likely allergies this time of the year. The reason it turns black is because it is bacterial, it starts out as clear, and then when exposed to air, turns black.
