Bird House Fail

I've been wondering why I don't get any birds nesting in my bird houses. I mean, I thought I put them high enough off the ground but.....

"Birdies? Are you home?"

"Uh oh, how do I get back down?"

"Maybe I should go up instead?"

"Woah, this is a bit scary!"

"What should I do?"

By the time I'd got the ladder out to rescue her Sophie had managed to bear-cub shimmy her way back down. Guess I'll need to cat-proof the trees if any birds start nesting here.

Perhaps put the birdhouse on a pole rather than the tree. Might be harder for your cat to climb.

Oh, I doubt I'll get any birds nesting there any way. I have about half a dozen bird houses in the garden, but they're just for decoration. Nice houses, but it's a terrible neighborhood to raise a family in.
