My boy Salem is all black shorthair and has a beautiful sheen coat. I noticed a small bald spot on his back up near his neck. He can’t reach that area to groom himself I don’t think but I’m wondering what could be causing it. Also, there’s a small bald spot in his coat near his eye the fur there seems to be healing over.

It's possible he is rubbing that area on his back against something which is rubbing the fur off. Possibly he's doing something like trying to get into a small opening in something and crawling under something that's a little tight :dunno: ? Or have you applied anything to that area, like a flea repellent? It's really difficult for anyone here to know what it is, especially without a picture. Is the skin smooth, or scaly? If scaly, then I would probably take him to see a Vet because it might be some sort of fungus.

The area between their eyes and ears is normally thinner in the fur department. It's more noticeable in black cats. (I have two of them!)
