Apoppycalypse- Perils Of Too Many Gawkers

Last weekend I found myself crawling on the I-15 just north of Lake Elsinore in Riverside County California, where a mountain range ablaze with California poppies stood right next to the highway.

I had to be somewhere so the delay had me cussing under my breath.

But I took some pictures mostly because you couldn’t do much else while you waited.

And it was a spectacular spectacle.

The pictures really don’t do them justice. Whole mile-high mountain tops were painted that vivid blazing orange.

The town of Lake Elsinore was having a lot of trouble managing the throng and kept trying to turn people away or at least corral them a bit.

Any Cat Siters see the Apoppycalypse?

The first shots didn't do it justice.. landscape shots are so difficult to capture as there is something in the 'being there'... but it does look stunning.

Wow. I can see why people slowed down. That would be gorgeous to see an entire landscape covered in orange poppies.
