Not important, but were any of your cats from Craigslist?
Just wondering.
Daisy was a Craigslist kitten.

I was lucky because the woman who posted Daisy was a cat rescuer. The picture on the ad was Daisy and her sisters and brother all together on a bathroom floor. .. the text said they were a full litter rescue. Had the picture been different or worded differently, who knows, I might have bypassed Daisy.Originally Posted by Carlysmom
The thing about CL is that most people lie. That's been my experience with CL. You have to take what they say with a grain of salt and realize it's a crap shoot with the health of the animal since most people aren't going to fully disclose problems because they want to get rid of their animal.
I know that Pet finder is a legitimate rescue/adoption site. I just can't take the heart break of thinking about all the animals out there who don't have loving homes, and worse, why they don't.Originally Posted by HyperSaurusRex
Petfinder isn't bad--It links you to all of the area shelters and shows you whats available from them. That said, I almost got a pair of craigslist kittens, but the owner ended up giving them to her friend instead. I got the kittens that I have now from a shelter I found on petfinder.
I have heard craigslist is a bad place to look for cats too. But I have to say, if it wasn't for petfinder I would never have found SweetieOriginally Posted by HyperSaurusRex

There's too much heartbreak for me to fix, too. We're now caring for seven, three of which are our "originals" and are housebound. It's a lot of work and if I weren't "retired", I wouldn't be able to care for them the way I would call "proper".Originally Posted by otto
I'm glad there are good people like you who read craigslist and adopt from there, so at least some of those poor souls will have good lives.
I can't stomach it myself, and never read adoption ads, anywhere. No pet finder, no "free kittens to good home" ads in the newspaper, no craigslist. I avoid them all, I can't take the heartbreak.

Oh, so true. I adopted my first Sphynx, Harold, from CL...I later found out the girl who sold him to me had only had him for a month, found out he had HCM and quickly wanted to get her money back before he got sick and died. I spent thousands on his health care, and had him for 8 months before I had to let him go to the bridge.Originally Posted by Carlysmom
