I am new here, and my kitty's name is Gayla. She is a rescue cat and has thoroughly captured my heart. She is also my first pet--and I'm in my 60's! I've had an 'empty nest' home for a while now, and my newly married son started sending me pictures of his two cats, and a few months later, I decided to get a cat as well. TBH, I was fearful of cats my whole life, until this past January. I still get freaked out inside when she hisses or suddenly swats at me. I hope this forum will help me to grow in confidence that way!

Hello to you and your new kitty! Thank you for rescuing. I rescued my girl as well and she has a little chop in her ear just like your cute girl. Good for you for slowly overcoming your fears. Cats and great and so lovable once they get a chance to acclimate to their new space and truly get to know their owners. I am sure the swatting and hissing will occur less with time. Congrats on your new family member :heartshape:

Welcome to you and that precious little soul you rescued! That clipped ear tells me that she was living for some time as a stray or feral, so she has some adjusting to do, just as you do! Feel free to post any questions you have in our forums! We love rescuers, and will do everything in our power to make this easy on you both!
