Just ran across your thread. I kind of have mixed emotions about this. A more recent article (2019) states that there are only 16 people still living on this island. Don't know why that struck me, but for some reason it did.

Then, again, I guess this is no different than the baby seals people go see on Galapagos Islands. Hmmm...
