9000 Dollar Scratching Post.... Fer Realz?

Fancy Japanese cat tree will cost you $9,000

it's terrible. the top looks like it could cause a mortal wound. it doesn't look like something they'd be able to scratch on really either what terrible design for actual use. I don't even think it looks good.

this one is a real head scratcher...

There are always ridiculously overpriced items for rich people who want to waste their money. You can buy a $400 toothbrush, nothing special about it except the price. You can buy gold-embossed toilet paper for $250 a roll. Or a Tiffany tennis ball can for $1500. There's always something to help people who are overburdened with money to ease their burden :/.

I'd expect it to at least be stylistically cool for that price. this just isn't.. lol

Yikes! I bet I could make the same thing myself for cheaper. But, I do wonder about the safety of the tree. Besides the top being sharp as Thefiresidecat pointed out, I’d fear that a kitten or small cat could get their leg caught between the bars.

Not all cat trees are for scratching. Which is kind of counter productive since most cats want to scratch trees by nature... But if you've got a few thousand to spend on one maybe you don't mind it getting scratched up?

It looks like some kind of medieval torture device to me.

That... is stupid. I wouldn't even buy it for $9, let alone $9000!

That's not a tree. That's a cage! Did you notice how miserable the cat looked? There's nothing comfortable about it. As far as the marble helping the cat regulate its temperature, well...! Whoever designed the thing must never have even met a cat, let alone known one!
