Hello,

We have a litter of 3 week old kittens and they were all gaining weight appropriately. In fact, they are ahead of schedule and already 1 pound.
We weigh them daily to make sure they are on track. The largest of the litter suddenly lost 10 grams from yesterday to today. He looks very healthy, is eating, is actively playing with his siblings and shows no signs of distress. We've been keeping an eye on him all day and it seemed like he was gaining grams (up 15 from this morning) but then he lost 3 grams again so we are confused.

Any ideas what it could be?

Thanks!!

He’s probably growing! He sounds very healthy, his weight is ahead of schedule, and he may already be teething his baby teeth. Kittens tend to put on weight, have a growth spurt, put on more weight, etc. Just keep an eye on him. As long as he is gaining overall he should be fine! :)
