I need collar ideas for a large 16lb. cat.

My boy Dexter a big cat with a large neck.
He wears 2 ID tags on his collar.

Currently he is using a "The Safety Collar" but because the heavy plastic parts hang below his chin (it's open all the way) it is beginning to irritate his neck.

Any ideas about a different breakaway collar that I could use for my big boy?

Mister is a big boy too, I recently got him a Beastie Band collar. So far so good.

Lei, my kids wear the Tenth Life collar, seen here at the bottom of the page, in the middle. They're adjustable from 7-13 inches, very lightweight, stretch, breakaway, reflector. My girls are average size, but our old Siamese Nibs had a pretty thick neck and we never had any difficulty fitting him. Might want to check them out.

I like the fact that the Tenth Life Collar adjust to 13 inches....
most are just to 12in for large cats.
Thanks Fran.

try these: Ragtime collars. not only do they come in a myriad of choices, but i got the large size for my bigger 2 [13 pounds & 14 pounds] & the collars could've fit far larger cats than mine - they expanded greatly. she also does dog collars, but i don't think they have the breakaway buckle. if you need it bigger than it says it gets [9 to 13"] i'd email her - she'll probably do a custom one for you if necessary
i did use the beastie bands before, but it was just barely big enough for my big boy whose 14 pounds.

Those look like really nice collars.
I like that fact that she make them herself.
Thanks

Pixel's 13 pounds, & she had no trouble with them, either, but i had to pre-stretch Chip's, & even then, some of the velcro would be uncovered. i didn't like that because it's so rough.

25bs.

Duke is a BIG kitty.

AbbysMom uses Lupine collars for her sweet Abby.
They are 1/2 by 12".
I might try one of these.
A slightly wider collar might help.
Or I could try their small doggie collar.

The problem with a dog collar is that they don't have breakaway clasps and a cat could get hung up with one.
My Yeller is 16 lbs. and he wears a Safe Cat Breakaway that goes to 12", but I was on that page that rapunzel47 posted with the Tenth Life Collars that the DaBaDoo Cat Collars go up to 14" so that might be big enough for you.

Good Luck getting a good fit.

I missed seeing the 14" DaBaDoo Cat Collars.
They might be just what Dexter needs.
Thanks for pointing those out Trudy.

Update....
Problem solved...
I found a great collar for a big cat.

I went to a local pet store that carries the Lupine Cat Collars that AbbysMom recommended.
They are 1/2in wide/12" long but fit Dexter just fine because they are made really well.
Also, they have really pretty patterns.
There is a link above if you want to look at them....

Dexter is now wearing Ladybug...
OK I told him they are Boybugs.

Sadie has one too....Flutterby that is a pretty pink color.

Thanks for all of your feedback.
