My poor feral, Merlin, has gone. He was PTS at midday today. It was horrible, because he fought all the way to the vet, turning his carrier over twice in the car, and at the vet he could not be got out of the carrier. The assistant had to help. I feel guilt and relief in equal quantities. None of it was his fault, I feel I failed him in several ways, and we were forced into a place none of us wanted to be in. And although the house and grounds are now safe for my cats and for children, I do wish I could have done more. RIP little one - I know your kittens are up in my barn and I will do all I can to ensure they at least have happy lives.

I'm sorry to hear this, Jenny. I know we all want to save the homeless and ferals, but sometimes it has to be done.

Please be gentle with yourself -- you went above and beyond for this guy -- and he knows it.

Jenny i'm so sorry
You've far from failed Merlin. Bless him he didn't understand that you were trying to help him that's all, but now that he's over the bridge he now knows exactly what you were trying to do

Play happily over at Rainbow Bridge Merlin, and get those headbutts ready to thank Jenny when you see her one day

Jenny, I'm sorry you lost Merlin. After what he & you have been through, it must have bene tough. Not many people would have given him as much a chance as you did. It's so sad that he could not be saved, but he is now happy over the Rainbow Bridge.

Yes, you sure do, Jenny. He was a very brave one - so brave that heaven must have needed him in a hurry. He's on your shoulder now and you will feel him and he will be there. We're so sorry, Jen.

Love & peace

Aw Jenny...
So sorry. Sometimes we have to let out babies go because they hurt too much. I think Merlin was just too scared, and you were doing the same thing we all do when the quality of life is gone. I liked the thought that Merlin is now your angel.

I agree totally with Rosiemac. Merlin just didn't understand while he was here, but now he knows how much you love him.

Rest in peace, Merlin. You will never know fear again, and when you are reunited with Jenny you will be able to give and accept love.

Condolences, Jenny, on this painful loss.

Enjoy your reward over Rainbow Bridge, Merlin. I am sorry that you had such an awful car ride - it must have been very frightening for a feral. Jenny, it took courage and love to do the right thing for Merlin, and now his worldly troubles are over and he can be happy and free, playing with all the other souls and spirits who are over RB with him. someday he will come running to greet you and you will be together forever. Hugs, Susan
