A giant moth hiding from predators flew into the house tonight. It rested on the wall near a lighted lamp. The 5 kittens had a field day going after it. They managed to catch it and maimed it. I got it and threw it outside for the bats. The kittens watched me do it and they all rushed outside and returned with it. I waited until they lost interest (or so I thought) and again took the dead moth and tossed it out. Again, 2 of the kittens went out and returned with the prize. This happened twice and the moth slowly crumbled to dust. The kittens were playing football with it. At the end all I tossed out was the body with 2 legs and half a head.

That moth is pretty. How large is it? It is as big as your hand?

Bigger actually. More like the size of a man's hand.

Had a quick look in hubbys moth book, but cant find that one.

It is a lovely moth tho'. My hubby would be upset if our cats had got hold of that one

I'm always afraid that bugs will carry some sort of disease or something....I'll usually let LuckyGirl chase a fly, but I intervene when she actually gets it. I really don't want her to eat it.....

That is like chasing a bird. My cats would be frantic at the sight of something that large. They just get little moths and we haven't had that many this year.
