I have just recently moved in w/ my boyfriend and his parents and his mother has a feral cat colony. I have been trying to socialize some of the baby kittens so that hopefully we can give them away. Over the past week, all of our younger cats (3 mths or younger) have developed some sort of eye infection. They have a yellow or green discharge and their eyes will matt shut. We cannot handle most of them for too long as the mothers get very angry and we don't want them to be rejected. My (future) mother in law says that she has taken some to the vet before and that they just advised to cleanse the eye with saline solution. We have been doing that and I do not see an improvement and some seem to be getting worse. I have 3 adult cats and 4 kittens of my own that are inside only and I had to foot some major vet bills before moving here to make sure that they did not get sick or pregnant after the move and I am BROKE. I feel so bad for these cats and I don't know what to do. I'm not talking just 1 or 2 cats here either. We probably have 15 kittens out there with this problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

I would call another vet for a second opinion. That could be an eye infection or it could be a sign of other illness, possibly feline distemper
Bless you for taking on such a challenge
Maybe you could contact Alley Cat Allies and see if there is a feral rescue group nearby; they would also be able to recommend a vet who would be willing to work with you on this. Please keep us updated!

Just another thought, since the some of the kittens have been to a vet - could they be living in some source of irritation, such as fiberglass insulation - esp. if they live under a shed, etc.
