Well, I already posted earlier about a stray cat named Abby. Funny thing, she found a home, uh, with me. And my husband. So I thought it was time for introductions! I'm Jessica and my husband is Sean, we've recently been adopted by the local stray, Abby, who has compeltely taken over our apartment.
I'll post pictures once I get the laptop working better, but she's a nine pound black short hair with a Siamese body. She's allergic to fleas and possibly deaf, so she has become a permanantly indoor kitty in the space of a week. She got all her shots last week, plus all her kitty tests, a steroid shot for her allergies and some flea meds. Tonight she's getting dropped off for a spay surgery tomorrow morning, as she is apparently in heat. (A cat in heat = lots of meowing, a deaf cat in heat = lots of LOUD meowing)
I've never had a cat before, and am "a dog person", but she is rapidly changing my mind on the feline world, as she is nothing like my mother's neurotic and antisocial cats. But, we're happy to be here, Abby is happy to have a mom and a dad, and we look forward to learnign a lot from y'alls!

It's lovely that you were able to offer Abby a home. Sending good vibes for her spay surgery and a peacefully quiet home for you all afterwards!

Dear Jessica:
Thank you and bless you for rescuing Abby and you will never regret "seeing the light" and becoming a CAT PERSON! You're doing all the right things for her, and I know she's going to reward you by giving you a lifetime of loyalty and love like no one else could...I currently serve 9 cats, all rescues, all indoor-only and spayed/neutered, of course! They range in age from 16+ to 2 years; none of them are deaf, but all of them can be LOUD! and we like it that way
) especially in the purr dept.!
Glad to meet you and looking forward to good news about Abby...Best to you all from the Mojave Meower Power Brigade!

Welcome to TCS, Jessica & Sean!! Congratulations to Abby for selecting such a wonderful family
Bless you for taking in Abby; I am grateful that you were so willing to have an open heart. You mentioned that you were a dog person - any pups in the home that we'd like to hear about?? Most of the dogs in my life always preferred to have cats around - it was their nature to want to be the great protectors

Funny you should mention, we actually were in the process of applying to adopt a dog when Abby started coming around and pretending to need us. We made the decision that she needed our help and attention first, so we put off getting a pup for awhile until she gets settled, spayed, flea allergies completely cleared up, etc. Plus, we're moving to a much bigger place in mid-November, so at that point we'll be adding to our furfamily.

Though I must admit, I have been giving a look over at some fo the local rescue cats, there are a few Maine Coon mixes that have caught my eye and a little bit of heart string.. so we'll see what happens!

What a little beauty Trout is!
I love the torties, and my current tortoiseshell meezer heartthrob,
Tarifa, expresses HER admiration, too!
