I rescued a newborn kitten. Found her outside surrounded by her dead brothers and sisters. She was crying. Ive had her for 3 days now. She is brand new. Her eyes arent even opened yet. She cries a lot and feeds hungrily. She is already climbing up the towel in her box. She seems strong. She is feeding well and urinating a lot. I have followed all instructions to get her to poo and she has only gone once. She went 2 days ago and hasnt gone since. She is still drinking the replacement milk I give her eagerly. I have gently rubbed her tush with a warm, wet paper towel. What else can I do to get her to go? How often should newborns poo? Should I be very worried? She's already been to a vet and everything checked out ok.

When I took little Wesley in he was one and half week and I fed him for almost five days before we could catch the mama. I kept support feeding him since the mother was so stressed by being captured so she took care of her kittys but only if they crawled to her. Wesley had a habit of crawling back to the box he lived in for a few days and just wait for me to come with the bottle.
During the five days he didn't have mama around I didn't get him to poo. He peed ok but nothing else. Before he was three and half week and did it him self the first time I never saw any signs of poo. I was worried sick about this and we went to the vet twice and I gave him parrafine oil in the formula for three days (longer is not good). The vet said that since he didn't seem ill and didn't have a swollen or tense stomach I shouldn't worry too much. He ate good all the time and he grew.
Today he is 16 weeks and healthy.
On the other hand - every advice I read said that this was serious and taht he could be dying.
If I were you I would give him one drip of parrafine oil per 30 ml formula for two days and if nothing happens have him checked again by the vet. There is not a lot more you can do.
Good luck.

I had Portia from when she was just 1 day old - She was pooing fine initially and then she stopped.

I had to go to the vet and he gave her an enema as she was so backed up.

So I would take the little fella to the vet again - Being constipated for more than 2 days can be dangerous.

You can also try watering down the formula a little to see if that helps!

Hope your little fella starts pooping soon!
