My cousin called me tonight while I was cooking dinner and told me that her website (which I also sell jewelry on) wasn't going to be spotlighted this week as planned by a popular work-at-home mom website, but rather next week due to the woman who owns it having "family drama".

The drama being that one of her neighbors shot and seriously injured her other neighbors dog. The dog's leg bone was shattered and all the woman can afford is to have her beloved dog's leg amputated, and she can barely afford that.

Anyway, my cousin asked if I would be willing to donate a pair of my earrings for a raffle where the proceeds are going to the dog's owner to help cover vet bills. I agreed. In fact, I told her I would donate more than one if it would help.

I'm not asking anyone to buy raffle tickets necessarily, of course if you want to do that its for a very good cause, and you could come away with something really cool (like a pair of my earrings
). Mainly I'm asking for vibes for this poor dog and its owners. Its hard to imagine somebody being able to do this to a dog.

Here's the link to the woman's site with a pic of the dog:

Thanks everybody for your vibes!

The woman's dog was technically in the neighbor who shot its yard when it happened, so it would be hard to make them pay for it. According to them it was "self defense."

Just got an update on this. The raffle went well raising around $700. In fact I'm shipping out a pair of earrings to one of the winners tomorrow.

The bad news is the dog passed away in post-op. I don't know any more than this, but I would assume that an amputation is a risky procedure. The owner was left with a vet bill close to $900 or so, so at least with the raffle money she can worry less about monetary issues.

So very sad...
