Hello all, first of all i would like to say thank you for all of your help in everything that you help out with. The information is so helpful, and some of us including myself couldnt do it with out you. I adopted my cat, Pickles from the humane society, and she is one of the best things that has happened to me. My one question is, can we feed them people food. I have given her a little taste of things...im thinking its becoming a begging problem though now. But i feel so bad and im so gullable with her cute little eyes. I've spoiled her way to much already...as you can tell this is my first cat. I will try to get a picture up here soon. She is about one and a half years old. Theres a lot of things i feel bad about, her not having a play mate, besides the family, then i feel bad when she's alone when im at work, so ya im kinda wierd your thinking
But shes my pickles. Just wanted some advice on the food question though. Thank you and sorry for babbling!

I would limit it to less than 10% of her total food, unless you want to look into raw feeding. Otherwise, it can throw off the nutritional balance. Also, treat calories are still calories, so you'll need to feed a little less of her regular food to compensate. There are some people foods to avoid--anything with garlic or onions, chocolate, and super-salty foods. Feeding an occasional treat that doesn't contain those things should be okay. My Spot loved french fries (I found him as a stray) and would nearly bite my finger off to get them. My mom's cat loves dried apricots. Cats have a wide variety of tastes.

Thank you very much for your reply. I know definetly not to give her chocolate....i usually just to some meats...and frenchfries like you said. I always feel bad giving her catnip too....she just sits there after eating some of it (dried) then just gets a tad bit hyper. I guess cats vary from how they react to it.
