Is it bad to take your cat to someone's home for sitting?

A co-worker has offered to kitty sit anytime that we need one. Frankie has all his claws and is really good at home but our house is pretty kitty proofed. Is it risky to take him to someone else's house for sitting? I'm just wondering if he'd be upset that we left him there and might scratch something of hers. Is it better to have someone stop over to our house so as not to make him go into an unfamiliar setting? I was thinking he might like going to her place so he's not as lonely. What are your thougths?

Gee I don't know. I guess if it were me I would have someone come to my own house to check on him. I would be worried that he might be stressed going into unfamiliar surroundings and also what if he is upset and widdles on the floor? But that is just based on how I know my own cats might react.

If your cat adjusts well to change, I would say go for it..but I would ask the person who you are house sitting for if it's okay with them first.

that's funny...

If they do well with that, then it's worth a try. I tried to take LuckyGirl to my SIL's one Sunday morning for a few hours with me. I thought, since she'd most likely watch her while I was away, I should start to get her used to visiting, then it wouldn't be so traumatic. Nope. She hid the whole time & would NOT come out.
Such a drama queen! So now we will just be taking them with us. If we leave the country, they will have to survive with 1 can of wet food a day and unlimited dry, unless I can get someone else to come over a second time to feed them, I think that would be easier than uprooting them from their environment?!

That reminds me of a time when we took a dog that we used to have over to my parents while we were on vacation for a week and my mom was actually dipping milk bones in peanut butter when giving them to him. You can imagine that he wasn't too happy coming home after that!

I just found out that the co-worker who made the offer to me is on vacation the same time that we're going to be gone so I won't be doing that this time. We're only going up on Friday morning and coming back on Saturday afternoon so I'll just ask a friend or neighbor to stop over on Friday night and give him some food and water and some head pettings and he'll be fine. Just thinking ahead though for when we go on longer vacations.
