I am booking in for a Tummy tuck fairly soon, im only 24 but after my 2 kids im left with saggy unsightly skin on my tum, which ive been fairly depressed over, i just cant wait to be able to wear bikinis again, ive been through all the risks and also i know i will be left with a scar from hip to hip after it but to me that will be 100 times better than what it looks like now.Im going to book whatever now, my decision is made up, but i just wondered what peoples opinions on cosmetic surgery are and do you believe that it can become an addiction?

Im for it, but i think for me it is necessary. For someone who just wants to take away a few inches of fat i dont think they should be operated on, as that could be lost at the gym as for saggy skin cannot be toned at the gym.

I heard someone on a forum say they were having a thigh lift after they'd had a tummy tuck, breast lift and lipo already and i just thought omg that has become an addiction, and a thigh lift?! what is that anyway!

Are you done having kids?If so,then I say go for it.It's YOUR body after all.
If not, then I would hold off until you are done with children.
I personally would LOVE to have it done.I have had 4 kids and I have so much baggage that it hangs down and makes me sick to my stomach to look at myself.I've tried diets, diet pills, walking, excersises and nothing works for me.I am just leary of being under the knife and having that much work done, plus the incision on my belly.I had a Hyster, but they did it vaginally.

I think some people can get addicted to anything.

My basic philosophy is the same as the Wiccan Creed: "If it harm none, do as thou will." If it makes you happy, go for it!

My sister recently told me that she's getting new boobs.
She's always been smallish in that area and unhappy with it. She's 37 and happily married and just wants to do it for herself, not to make anyone else happy. So what the heck? She's thought about it for years, wants it done, and is now in a position to be able to afford it. Why not?

I know this can be a touchy subject so I'm going to tell you what happened to me. When I was three I was mauled by a dog, and had to have parts of the right side of my face reconstructed. As of late, I've noticed the right side of my face start to droop, and it's looking like I'm going to have to go back in and have some more work done. I feel that you need to do what is going to make you happy, but you also should be responsible about it. Make sure that you check out your doctor really well, and call the state medical board and see if he/she has had any complaints. Also, if at all possible, see if he will let you talk to former patients to see how happy they are with their work.

Movin' on up!
If it makes you feel good and you can afford it - go for it. I'm in the process of scheduling a consultation for laser hair-removal and, if that goes well, I'll see about having them work on the lines around my eyes.

My Hubby has had a vasectomy so we had decided a while ago there'll be no more kiddies for us.

I can't stress enough, do your homework.... don't just believe the fancy certificate on the wall. I saw this program on DHC that had me in tears. This girl was beautiful, and from the mid-east USA, she was a beauty queen, but had always wanted a bigger chest....she finally made enough money to afford it, and went off of a reference of a friend. She goes into this "legitimate" office, and has the procedure done, she even checked references etc....and she dies, from the anethisia. I can't recap all of the details from the story, but her parents have tried to find this guy to prosecute him, and he packed up and left town, and hasn't been found. I think she lived in Florida, and that's where the dr. was. Did anyone else hear of it??? She was a blonde in her early 30's, and was Miss Tenesee or something.... either way, it was heartbreaking...and there was 1000 things wrong, like the dr. was "board certified" but didn't have a medical license or something crazy, and even though she checked with the BBB, he was listed as a spa type place that could do botox, but not as a surgeon, and if she had it done in a hospital she would've lived. Her parents & sister were still (years later) completely devastated.

I am not agaisnt cosmetic surgery, but cannot afford it now. And I would definately wait till you are completely done having children. I have thought about getting a little collagen in my lips, cause I want lips like that Adriana Lima (the 19yo victoria's secret model), but know that it's not necessary. Also, I have a pouch type of tummy, I have been a size 5, and still had the little pouchy tummy, it's my body type, and I would love to have that stapled, but have not had kids yet.... so it's not an option yet. If it makes you happy go for it! But please be wise, for your childrens sake, do 10 times the homework/research, and be safe!!!
