Colin & I found an awesome little carpet cleaner (about the size of a dirt devil) at Goodwill one time when we were bored and just looking around. It was $10....maybe you could try your local good will in the chance that they may have one. Ours is almost brand new and works awesome! Good luck!

When my brother was 3 he had some really bad nighttime habits. Anything my mom would take away from him during the day and put up somewhere, she would find the next morning on the kitchen table. Scissors, candy... you name it. All together on the table. Of course my brother was a little stinker. My earliest memory is of him on top of the refridgerator throwing things at the babysitter.

I would take a hot pink highlighter and make a polka dot ceiling.
Didn't think abou that!!! The bad thing about it being up there, is it's a popcorn finish ceiling. So, you can't even wipe it off.Needless to say, that slime went in the garbage and I have threatened to hang them from the ceiling by their toes. (JUST KIDDING) LOL!!!

Yeah..
So I went to the store & bought an alarm for her door.
I think I may be a little more deaf now. But it totally works. I kind of "ghetto-fied" it, and taped a rag over the alarm part to lessen the ear-peircing alarm. It's TERRIBLE!
You can change it to a "chime" much like a doorbell, but it only goes off once, and it's pretty quiet. So that wouldnt help. But if someone was breaking into my house, and that went off...(say I had it on the front door), I think I would pee my bed.
It's very alarming. Only problem here is...That it sounds much like a fire alarm. Won't that affect all 3 of us if the REAL fire alarm goes off, and we're stuck thinking it's her bedroom door alarm?
It'll ruin the "surprise" alarm feeling. Because we'll all be so used to it after a while.

Can you imagine the look on your daughter's face when she tries to sneak out?
You better hope SHE'S wearing pull-ups

This reminds me of when my sister and I received these balls about the size of a quarter of bubble bath soap (the kind that would dissolve). We would throw them up on the ceiling where they would stick and it was so cool seeing these pastel blue and green things up there. Mom though was not happy.

It's not her I'm worried about. It's her dad. I'm glad that thing was only 13 dollars, because I'm sure it'll be smashed within the week.
You actually have to enter a code to turn it off...Which I made very easy and all, because it's not like we're stopping robbers.
I just hope it wakes HIM up. I know I'd get up for sure. But I have to work tomarrow morning, and so I won't know how it goes.

Well you did say it was loud.

As to the code, it reminds me of that commercial where the guy is staring at the alarm box and asking his wife what the code is. She replies it's their anniversary. He ponders it a little longer, punches in a code and the alarm goes off.

in a pile of open toed shoes!
Leah, this is funny! You poor thing! They have the motion sensored ones at Radio Shack....you don't have to enter a code in them, but any time someone goes by it it sounds "diiiiing donnnng" pretty loud.... at least this way your BF could get up and get dressed without having to enter in a code in his undies?!

My nephew usually goes to daycare, but the ladies hubby had a heart attack & was going in for surgery, so she isn't taking kids for 3 weeks. So my neighbor is watching my nephew & his cousin for the next 3 weeks to help out my sis. My neighbor (we're all friends) goes to my sis's house in her pj's cause she has to go up early, and brings her clothes to change into. Well, last week she called me in tears....she forgot her clothes in the car, so she ran to the car & left the 2 boys (2 & 19mos) in the house & had them stand by the door, leaving the door open, but the screen door closed, and ran in her pj's 20ft straight out to her car to get her clothes....big mistake. My nephew turned the lock on the screen door & locked her out, in her jammies, in the rain! And she had no purse, no cell phone, nothing! And it's harder to unlock than to lock, cause you have to go against the lock to get it open. She was stuck out for 45 minutes while Damien did the happy dance yelling "I locked the door, I funny!!!"
Lisa had to get a neighbor to come with a utility knife & cut the screen just enough to slip her hand in and unlock it....

Ohhh,, I'm feeling for you!!!!

The sad part of this,, Terrible 2,, are wonderful compared to the Terrrorsome 3 year olds!!!

My daughter was 100times worse when she turned 3,, and just recently at the age of 4,, has calmed down.. Thank god!!!!!

I've got soo many stories,,,,

She is now into makeup and stuff, and she slid one of my dark reddish lipsticks in her purse.. We drove to blockbuster on Saturday, and as he was getting out of the car,, he lips and the area aroudn her lips were full of this red lipstick.. Oh I could had hurt her... I had to literally use kleenex to clean her off,, and it stained her lips and the skin aroudn her lips....

They are a piece of work... I'll tell ya!!

YAY!

Today I came home and there was peace.
There was no huge mess.
I said "so the alarm worked?" to SO.
And in reply to me my daughter says "IT SCARED ME MOM!!!!" She then went on to tell me that "I shut da door, and and I wana cwy, and daddy say don cwy and then open door, and off, and whew I ok now."

Apparently it scared her BACK into her room untill SO came and shut it off.
But it works.

And she totally knows she's cute. She's a dork about it too..You pull out a camera and she does little poses, and twirls, plays with her hair....But the people at the photo places LOVE THAT!
Works awesome.
She was supposed to be in this program for kids to get into advertising (like models for clothes, and commercials), but we missed the appointment, and I didn't feel like driving to Chicago by myself. (Her dad wasn't so hot on the idea)

That is too cute! She poses?? My little niece Taylor does that too! It's hysterical! She raids my closet and shoes every time she comes over- i just laugh and let her have fun (and make her clean it up afterwards
) I'm glad the alarm is working out! Maybe your little houdinie will stay in her room tonight so mommy & daddy can get some sleep lol....until she figures out how to override the alarm

Poor baby!!! Just kidding, atleast now she knows it will go off when she sneaks out of her room. After a few weeks, try leaving it NOT programed...........just don't let her know it's not.I bet she won't even think about opening her door.

That's awesome it works!

But just wait until she see's mommy or daddy punch in the code and she memorizes it!
Don't think it won't happen

I remember my oldest son would hit the panic button on the house alarm just about EVERY morning for about 2 weeks and die laughing when we would come running across the house to check on HIM because we thought there was a fire or someone breaking in....
Apparently it's funny to watch parents have heart failure at 5 in the morning

The good thing about those, is you can change your code as soon as she figures it out!!!
