My husband works for the Scotts Company (you know grass seed, Miracle Gro, RoundUp, etc.) and every year (in the Wal-Mart office) they have a tomato growing contest. My husband came in 3rd with a 1 lb. 8 oz. tomato and won $50. He also won Rookie of the Year.

Anyway, they had a Gardening Buddy of the Year award and I won because I heroically resuced seedlings from a thunderstorm while my DH was in Washinton DC for a week. Apparently the award is just a cut-out of a tomato, but it still made my day!

All right!!! I've had tomatoes that size but when they have the big tomato weigh off's at the farmer's markets (why in October in WI??) the fruit is "past" its prime!!
Make sure you put that award on any resume too!!

Saving the garden is important work - think of all those yummy tomatoes that would have been lost. Good for you!
