How do you pick a counselor?

I'm going through something that is bothering me more than I origianly thought it would and because of my crazy schedual the place I would normally go for counseling does not have anyone on the nights I need. So now I'm looking though a 3 page PPO list of counselors. So my question is how do I go about figuring out who & where to go?

Is there anyone you know who you could ask for a recommendation? That would probably be the best way to find someone. Other than that, I don't know...
