Ok Kirra is not doing well with a collar, she is always itching her neck and making scabs, its the collars, she HATES em, but i need her to have a bell on, i am losing my vision and have almost no perrfieral vision, so its hard for me to know where she is sometimes and the bell helps alot. we took her collar off last night because 1) it 3 days it had gotten tight again, she is growing so fast i have to adjust the collar at least once a week and 2) we felt so bad she scratches at it so much. ever since taking it off i have tripped over her i dont know how many times.

help

What kind of collar does she have? I would suggest a very soft one like a Beastie band and getting a large-looped bell to put on it as they don't come with belles. Before I knew better I had a cat who rubbed himself raw on a flea collar, which tend to be hard (as well as causing sicknesses). All my cats wear very soft collars, though I check them for adjustment every few days as they seem to change, even when full grown!

well we had to get a dog collar for her as she is still to small for a cat collar, the green collar in my avatar was her first it was a ferrett collar, she scratch with that, than this one. here are the pics of her collar.

this is the backside that she hasnt torn you can see what it is suppose to look like

this is the side that faces out for all to see and you can see just how much she has scratched at it.

She may be allergic to the collar - what kind is it - nylon or cloth? Try a nice soft cloth collar and see what happens.

go to ragtime collars online, they sell kitten collars!! and they are made of 100% cotton, have the emergency release if the collar gets caught on something, and they have a bell. lots of patterns to choose from. so far ive purchased 4 collars from her and have a christmas pattern on order.

Well right now we are leaving a collar off, letting her scapes heal first. i told my husband if she can acclimate to my needs than we wont do a collar till she is older. i know cats are good about learning their humans, i have seen many adapt for their handicap owners, so i am sure in time she can learn my handicaps and we wont trip over each other so much. than again she could be like my kids and "have fun" with the fact that mommy cant see well.
