Okay my cat usually likes wet food but here lately she has been refusing it I have tried different flavors and brands and she still prefers her dry food. She will eat a few bites of the wet but then leaves it sitting I end up giving it to the dogs to keep from drawing bugs with it. I will leave it for her for almost all day but I can't leave it longer than that or it draws gnats and flies. Which we try to keep out but is hard to do because we currently live in an older trailor. I have tried washing her bowl and it didn't work and she has a cermic bowl to keep down the bacteria. She just seems to prefer her dry food and her treats. She won't accept anything like bites of steak or chicken or even tuna either. When we cook we give each of the dogs a bite of what we cook and we have offered it to Tavia and she turns her nose up as if to say you expect me to eat that, how dare you. But she will meow when we are eating like she wants some. But only smells of what we offer and then walks away. I am not sure how to get her to eat more wet food. I don't mix it with dry because I had a bad experience doing that she has a seperate bowl for each and they are cleaned often. So if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Oh and one thing I have noticed she will lick the gravy off of the wet food and then leave the meat of it.

How old is your cat? If it's not a tiny kitten, it's probably fine just eating the dry food. Dry food often has more nutrients in it than the water-heavy canned food. Our adult cats love their dry food and only get wet food as a special treat.
If you're really intent on feed her wet food and have tried the good brands such as Authority and Euk. , then I would wait awhile before offering it to her again. It could be that she got a stomach ache from one of them and doesn't want to eat it quite yet.

Well I bought her science diet today and I am going to see if she will eat it. My dad said well it smells better, he hates the smell of wet cat food. It did look like it was a little better quality then what I had for her. I hope she will eat it but I don't know if she will or not. I don't want to take the dry food away because she is one of those cats that will not eat what she doesn't want. I also tried dropping a couple of her favorite treats in the wet food maybe she will give it a try.

Actually this is not so. Dry food has more fillers and has nothing to recommend it over dry food. If you can find a wet food for your cat that it will eat, that is better for his/her overall health. Dry food is fine - in small amounts to "graze" on during the day while we are at work. Cats are basically desert animals and generally do not drink enough water which is one of the reasons wet food is best. Also there is a myth that dry food cleans their teeth - not so. Cats usually swallow their food whole of if the piece is large will break it with the tip of the tooth which does nothing for the gumline or tartar. An all dry food diet is also one of the major causes of crystals in neutered males.

I had to try about 8 different high quality wet foods before I found Merrick and that is the only one our cats would eat. Even then they only like 2 flavours. They don't like anything with fish in it.

We call that the right of refusal around here. They might not want something, but they don't want to opportunity to let you know they don't want it!

I have finally got mine eating Felidae and Eagle Pack wet. I had a heck of a time getting them to accept something other than the junky Friskies they dearly loved and had me trained to provide with the smallest meow.

Aren't our little furry masters wonderful!
