i am 20 years old and on monday i went to planned parenthood for my yearly check up. well while i was there i decided to go back on birth control to regulate my monthly (has not been the same since my d&c last year) well when the doctor took my blood pressure she said it was high and that she would check it again after the exam. after the exam she made me wait 20 minutes she told me to think happy thoughts and to breathe slowly, well i did. she took it again and my blood pressure was still high. she told me she will still put me on birth control for only a month but i have to go back weekly to be checked. but i didnt have enough money to cover everything and get the pills. i am a lil scared about going back on it because the doctor told me that there is a possibility of a stroke and if it doesnt go down she is going to take me off of it. does any one have any suggestions?

Nuh uh...might give me away!
If you can afford it (I'm not sure about your situation since you said you went to PP), I would see a regular doctor about your blood pressure. This sounds serious if she's that concerned.

Are you under a lot of stress lately? Have you been eating foods higher in cholesterol? Are there family members that have high blood pressure?

This isn't what you have to do, but I would work out a way to lower by blood pressure and worry about regulating my period another time.

Good luck!!

Silly little things can cause your blood pressure to go up, even them asking for extra tests etc can 'scare' your body.
I wouldn't worry too much until the next test as you will just make the blood pressure higher

I have had high blood pressure for over 20 years, plus high cholostrol been on meds all this time. I don't know where it came from either no one in my family had it, I stsrted with it when I was in my late 30s. I am 4' 11" I weigh 103 lbs have alway's been in that weight bracket, pretty active and no predisposition to it, but Dr told me it's probaby genic so sometimes we still get things that you wouldn't think you should, Both of my oldest daughters have it also plus they are diabetic, but they have both alway's been over weight, thank godness i don't have that. Those things are very easy to control so I wouldn't worry to much and it may be fine next time you go in. I am a stressed out kind of person and sometimes I wonder if I'm my own worse enemy...

what where the numbers the doc gave you?

i almost passed out last year, my BP was 160/120 i was on BP meds for about 5 months and i started getting light headed again, went back to the doc and my BP was now to low, so i went back off the drugs and my BP has stayed around 110/68 since,
Doc told me that sometimes are bodies goes though changes, in my case it was i was now middle aged, kinda a smaller version of what happens to women, or so my doc told me.

Your little young for that change, But still watch your weight, the amount of salt you take in, and please go back to the doc,
