My friend has a cat who pees on the baby's car seat and on clothing left on the floor. She is using the litter box as well, so we don't suspect an urinary tract infection...she will get a test done tho. Has anyone encountered something like this? And if so, did you find a solution (aside from not having these items in reach of the peeing cat)??
thanks!

It seems to me that a stressful situation has occurred in the cat's life - a new child was brought into the home and her routine has been disrupted. From what I know she is trying to extend his territory. Make sure you clean the items with an enzyme cleaner such as Pheromone Magic, there are others, that is specifically formulated to eliminate cat urin oder and prevents revisitng. I believe that your friend needs to give extra attention to her cat to re-assure her she has not been replaced and hopefully in time things will fall into place. I am sure other board members will also have further ideas. Good luck!

My roommates cat would pee on her clothes when he wasn't getting enough attention. She would go away for the weekend and even tho I was home and he had other cats to play with, he would let her know that he was mad. My 6 yo cat Azriel pees on scatter rugs or if I leave clothes downstairs. He won't pee upstairs. I try to give him lots of love because I figure he is just high maintenance!!

That kitty sounds jealous. The new baby is getting more attention that her. Set aside some playtime, even 15 minutes a day, to reassure her that she is still loved!

Kitty is definitely asking for more attention - I certainly would start by not keeping things around that he pees on but also, make sure he gets lots of attention. This behavior is not going to go away overnight.
