So I haven't explored this whole site very well yet, but I really wanted to tell someone what my cat did tonight. If this thread needs to be moved, please do so and I apologize if it's not in the right place.

Luna was playing with a fuzzy mouse on my bed -getting really crazy, jumping and rolling and summer-saulting. At one point she rolls off my bed, gets tangled a little in a blanket, finally gets free, stands there for a second and then decides she's going to get really scared and bolts up the stairs. Five minutes later she comes strutting down like nothing happened.

I've noticed that she does some pretty funny things when she's playing or even sleeping and was wondering what other people's cats do when they're having fun. So many forums around here are about serious issues, I thought that it would be nice to look at the crazy side of cats (the musical Cats comes to mind when i think of this.) and their particular quirks. So have fun with this! =)

You can check the CAT BEHAVIOR forum, lots of funny stuff there. Speaking of which, I think my almost six month old kitten is finally starting to get interested in catnip. That should supply a story or two...

The other day I was in the bath, and Trout kept dropping her foam ball in the water because she wanted to play fetch...So, about three times, she dropped it in, and as a faithful servant to her..I played along.

I try not to think of the germs that got into my bath water

Molly has cronic life-killing poops (that is, they smell so horrible that steel melts and we're awoken from deep sleeps). We've finally appeared to have it under control, but when they were at her worst, Molly would poop and then dash away as fast as she could without bothering to bury it. I thought that was hilarious (not at the time, though, I was usually running for my own life as well, lol)

Willow is the least-graceful of my 3. I don't think its entirely her fault, she's a longhair so therefore she has fuzzy feet (and she's sensitive with her feet, so she won't let me touch them with a cold pair of scissors, lol). When she's playing tag with Buffy, you can tell who's leading and who's chasing. Usually it's Buffy in front, and you'll hear a steady pidder-padder flying across the living room and then taking a turn down the hallway. Right after her, you'll hear a more muffled version of pidder-padder, following by a crash as she smashes into the wall in the hallway. She doesn't let it faze her, though, she just keeps on running, sometimes running in place like you see in cartoons before her feet gain traction and she takes off again.

Molly isn't what I'd call ungraceful, but she's pretty heavy and solid and sometimes has no clue about that. So she sometimes goes walking over, say, a bundled blanket and then will go flying over the side of the bed because she didn't know that the blanket wasn't secure, when it was hanging over the side of the bed. I remember once when she tried to jump on a window and crashed in the most hilarious way (to me, anyway). It was when she was still young, maybe 7 months old. To get to the cats' favorite window, they had to jump on the shelf thing that the TV is on, then jump on the CD stand next to it, and then jump on the window ledge. Well, on this day, Molly decided to skip the TV shelf and go straight for the CD case. Unfortunately, Molly doesn't have the greatest hind end action (in other words, she's weak, lol) so she didn't get enough air and only JUST managed to snag her front legs on the edge of the CD case. The poor dear tried her hardest, but she just couldn't pull herself up. So she gave in and just let go, turning as she fell (to land on her feet). What she failed to remember was that there was a basket right under her. Did she fall in? Actually, no she didn't, but she bashed her throat and chin right into the side of it. I have a very vivid image of Molly with her eyes squinted shut with only her head visible above the basket wall, throat melded with the basket (it's a picture, not a video memory, lol). But other than that, Molly prefers to stick to the sidelines, so it's really rare to catch her doing something funny.

There's another memory, but I don't remember who was involved. I have suspicions that Buffy was the "victim" but I can't remember if the other cat was Willow or Molly. I don't remember exactly WHERE it took place either, but I'm sure it was either the aformentioned window ledge or my bed. My memory shows Buffy being her bitchy, prissy self and smacking the other cat for DARING to cross into Buffy's space. Unfortunately, Buffy didn't have room, so when she hit the other cat, she lost her balance and fell off the window/bed.

That reminds me of another thing. Once Buffy had a catnip mousie and she was playing with it on the bookshelf (Buffy and Willow love sleeping there). The thing about Buffy is she starts off mellow, but quickly turns violent. So she starts by pushing the mousie around, then patting it, then smacking it every which way like a ping-pong ball, while performing such stunts as cartwheels and somersaults. At one point, she was in the middle of a somersault when she rolled right off the bookshelf. I was watching her and I went FLYING over there, grabbing her little tush and hoisting her up. Fortunately she had grabbed onto the blanket that's on the bookshelf or else I would have grabbed at her too late (that's me, the queen of bad timing, lol)

Radar is now about 5 months old, and loves to play with us. He will run out of the room and lay in wait for us just around the corner of the door. After a while one of us will notice that we cannot hear him (usually he is accompanied by a lot of noise as he leaves destruction in his wake
) and wonder what he is up to so will go and check on him... and then POUNCE! out he comes trying to look big and scary and waving his front paws at us, it is so funny seeing a little cat trying to be scary!

Or sometimes he will forget that he is waiting to pounce and be taken by surprise himself when we come round the corner - then he leaps up making himself look as big as possible and scuttles off in a series of sideways jumps - then realises it's just us and runs back up to us.

My parents were visiting this weekend and my dad asked what grizzly was doing under the birdfeeder. It seems that somehow (not me!!) catnip is growing under the birdfeeder and grizzly was chowing down.
That must be ultimate happy for cats birdfeeders to watch birds and catnip underneath for a snack!!
