My hubby and I quit smoking over a year ago and decided to make adjustments to our policy. We can get more insurance now for the same amount of money. I had phone interview today to answer medical questions. The phone interview was awful I could not understand the guy on the phone and I am pretty sure he was having a hard time understanding me. I had to spell out things over and over. This person is responsible for getting the underwriting process started. This person seemed completely clueless. It seems odd to me that a person who is asking these questions would have no medical background. This guy did not seem to know any medical terminology. I had to spell the names of common easy to spell medications over and over. This guy was also supposed to phone interview my hubby and it never happened. Also this guy set up an appointment for us to have someone come out to our house to do a medical exam and could not seem to be able to confirm the appointment. I followed up with our insurance company and he gave me the wrong # for the company that does the medical exams. My insurance agent is going to call this person's supervisor and compain.

Oh boy
That happens to me all the time. I have an accent that people don't seem to understand, and coupled with the fact that every second person you meet in Canana is not from Canada originally and usually has an even harder accent/ unfirm grasp of English, it makes for some fun conversations. I don't even answer the phone anymore, and my hubby has to step in often and do the talking.
Mind you, this guy just sounds really incompetent.

I had no trouble understanding you my friend. I have had difficulty understanding some folks on the phone recently though. I had an internet problem and called my server recently. Would you believe the person that answered and attempted to help me was physically in India? I am pretty good at understanding most people with an accent but this poor young woman and I had a difficult time communicating. I'm sure she was as frustrated as I was.

I work in insurance and I have to say that is what happens when you go to the big companies, the turnover of csrs is awful and likely last week they were flipping burgers. I recommend when searching for life insurance to go through a local independent agent licensed in life and health. They are typically way more knowledgable and helpful and it's way easier to get things done because they have a local office. I work in a place where the people handling the life insurance have over 30 years each with the same companies and they are quick, efficient, and helpful.

Me too! I find myself repeating myself all the time and get really frustrated by people who can't speak proper English on top of using cheap headset phones so the connection is awful getting call center type jobs - its like these companies just want to make you madder at them. I just missed part of my football game because I was on hold to the bank being passed from person to person

I agree completely. I get our auto and home insurance through a broker and I get excellent service. We haven't gotten any new life insurance for years so haven't had to experience that bit of fun.

I am not unhappy with the company my life insurance is through. My life insurance policy is through statefarm. I think they have another company that they work with that does these interviews. I called my state farm agent this afternoon and told her that I was uncomfortable because I had a hard time and understanding this guy and I did not feel he was understanding me. The first time I talked to this guy I asked that my cell phone # be put in the record for follow-up. Apparently he does not understand that either because he called me back around 7pm on my home phone again. This guy stated some of the questions may seem repetitive. It seems like this guy wants to just see how many times he can ask the exact same questions with the exact same wording. I am going to call my statefarm agent again tommorrow and let her know what happened tonight. This guy does not have an accent. If I had to guess I would say that he types extremely slow maybe with one finger and forgets what was said once he starts typing. We have had all of our insurance through this particualr state farm office for a while. My statefarm agent specificially told me that to her knowledge the company they use for this process is supposed to have experienced people doing this work. Hopefully once she talks to the supervisor tommorrow someone else from this company can call me back and read the record of the interview to me.
