Does anyone know if there is an alternative food to Science Diet C/D? My vet put my persian on this food and the ingredient list is undesireable to me. My persian used to be on Nature's Variety raw and dry kibble. I'd like a better food that will control crystals, but with a better ingredient list. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Though I can't answer your question, I'll tell you this - for my cat with IBD, nothing else is working but a Science Diet food. I didn't like it either, but since it helped with his problem, I don't dare change it. Trying other foods might not work as well - for whatever weird reason - I have tried everything possible before I ended up with Science Diet in the end.

I don't have any suggestions, but I know what you are going through. I'm going through this myself after recently discovering about SD's formula and researching the different foods. I'm sure someone will have a suggestion though. Have you looked at Wellness? I know different people use this food.

Good luck!

You may not like the ingrediants but RXs are medicine ... Yes there are OTC foods but First what kind of crystals or was it UTI that caused the vet to put the cat on RX food ..... I can give you names but you should discuss this with the vet

There are other brands of prescription cat food, that are supposed to be better quality nutritionally- I did a search and asked questions about that myself a while back (turned out my cat is allergic to fish, and that is what caused the problems
), and if I can find the threads again, I'll come back and post it here. They are prescription foods, just like the SD, that your vet would have to order. The new vet I went to for my foster kitten had Royal Canin prescription food, and I think Purina has some, but like I said, I will have to check.
If you do a search here, you will probably find some.

Found a link to a website in another thread that has the brands of RX food that are available:

and here is the thread, if you want to read it:
