There are other brands of prescription cat food, that are supposed to be better quality nutritionally- I did a search and asked questions about that myself a while back (turned out my cat is allergic to fish, and that is what caused the problems
), and if I can find the threads again, I'll come back and post it here. They are prescription foods, just like the SD, that your vet would have to order. The new vet I went to for my foster kitten had Royal Canin prescription food, and I think Purina has some, but like I said, I will have to check.
If you do a search here, you will probably find some.
Found a link to a website in another thread that has the brands of RX food that are available:http://www.rxpetfood.com/
and here is the thread, if you want to read it:http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...scription+food
