The stray kitten we found is having a hard time finding a home. So we were thinking about keeping it only we already have a cat. The kitten is about 15 months and is female. Our cat is 3 years female. We tried to introduce them somehow but our cat kept hissing and running away. What do we do!!? Is it a bad idea to try and keep the kitten? How do you introduce them together?

Has she been vet checked and brought up to date on shots?? Then I would say introductions are fine...but you want to take it slowly. Read the thread below on how to do the introductions:

There is nothing wrong with hissing and growling. Majority of cat will do this. Iwould be suprised if they didn't. Only time you need to worry is if there is blood shed. Otherwise, let them interact, let them discover each other don't set one in front of the other. Let them go, hiss, growl, maybe even whack at each other a bit. They need to do this to determine who is alpha cat in the home.
