I have been fostering a little one, keeping her in my garage, while waiting to see if I can adopt her out. So far no luck because I only want to give her to soemone I know (and trust) or someone I know, that knows someone else. It is getting to the point where I just may keep her, Im getting attached. But this is the problem. I am trying to first get Hobbs used to her, so I bring him into the garage, and Angel sees him. At first she just watched him, and sat still by the garage door. Hobbs however fuzzed up, and hissed fiercely at her several times, even though he is the most docile mush of a cat. He growled also. Tonight, the second "meeting", Hobbs did his hissing act, and this time Angel hissed once back at him. At one point I tried to put one or the other in the huge kennel in the garage to see if they might sniff at each other from a safer distance with a cage bewteen them, but neither liked it, and the cat outside the kennel would not approach the one in the kennel. Any suggestions???? (After Hobbs I have another cat and three dogs to go
)

They'll all go thru lots of hissing and maybe even swatting (at least) before settling down, so don't expect any lack of it anywhere, but you didn't say what kind of dog you have, or whether the other cats were there before him, which could have had something to do with why they got along at all. The new one will be scared of him at first, it's natural, but only you could say if you think he'd go after her or not. Certainly I'd be very very careful when they're together for quite a while.

S_L_O_W_L_Y, very slowly go these types of introductions. If you can find an old t-shirts to exchange scents so they get used to each other, is great Also, do not leave then alone w/o supervision. Show massive amounts of love to each one in front of the other. Talk out loud and say "See? Mom loves both of you!" over and over. Whoever is the more senior pet, gets the attention first.

thanks for your help. Oh and fyi, the dogs are a small terrier mix, no problem with her. The other two are lab/shep mixes. They seem more curious than anything, and I think they will be easy to train. Its the other cats that worry me. Ill try that thing with old tee shirts for the scent, and see what happens. Also only the terrier was there before the cats. Then came Hobbs and Blueberry, then the other 2 dogs. ty!
