I know I have talked a lot about the job Lee was trying to get with Gambro Renal Products. Well, yesterday we got the package saying he got the job. I am really excited for him but really sad. He will be leaving for Germany the 1st week of November. That is 2 months away and I really don't know what to think.

I know! That is so exciting. But I am really sad at the same time. I have been on the verge of tears since I found out. Its really an awesome experience for him and it will be great for us in the long run. But it just sucks at the same time!

I'm sure Lee is very excited, but I'm sure he also feels the same way you do, about being apart for awhile. How long will he be gone for?

Just know that we're here for you

Oh Brandi
what is it Lee does? I know you were excited about it before, but now its real it probably feels different. Would have have to go away regularly or just for the first 2 months?
Congratulations to him though!

So what will he be doing for them????
You should set up communication like military families do when their spouses get stationed overseas. Make sure you both have digital cameras!!
He will be there for one year??? How many times do you think you can visit and how many times can he come back to the states??
One of my ex co-workers had a long distance relationship for about a yr. First She was in Wisconsin he in San Fran. Then he got transferred to London!! He had lots of frequent flyer miles so once/month she went to London for a 4 day total (with flying) visit. She didn't do much else otherwise. She did that for about 4-5 months before she quit her job and moved over their. They talked on the phone every day!! It will work out for you.

Lee is a tool maker. He will be there for a year. The company gives him 4 round trip tickets for either him to come home or someone to visit him. I knowo I should be excited for him. And I am in a way. I just know how hard it is to be seperateed from someone you love. My dad was in the Army until I was 16. He was gone for long periods of time and it was really hard on our family. I know what to expect and that is why in my "rules of dating", military guys are out of the question. But we talked about it and the Pros out weight the cons by a lot.

No. I can't. The company only lets someone go over with you for 3 months. I can't take that long off of work. Plus I wouldn't want to ask our families to look after the kitties and the house for that long. And renting out the house isn't really an option. Lee really doesn't want to do that and neither do I.

I understand how hard this will be but I travelled the world for almost 2 years when Chris & I were dating... it was hard, dont get me wrong, but love withstands all tests I believe. And the internet these days really makes those distances feel smaller. Will you go and visit him though?

Chris did propose to me within weeks of me returning home though as I think thats the only way he thought I would stay in the country

I am hoping he will propose before he leaves.
Yes of course I am going to visit!! I live in Germany for six years and I love it there. I am a little disappointed that I won't get to live there with him!!

Thanks you all! I am starting to feel a little better about all of this. I know he and I have a strong relationship and we can make it through this. Thank goodness for hte internet!!

I'm glad you're feeling a little better about things Brandi. It's going to be difficult but like you say the pros outweigh the cons.
I am away from my boyfriend at the moment and although I'm seeing him at weekends it's still tough. You will be fine though, like you say, you have a strong relationship
