Anyone have Sisal scratching posts or use cosmic cardboard for their cats scratching needs? I need to find a kitty scratcher and fast. What size cats are these products suitable for? He is a kitten now, about 5 months but I want something that will last as he grows.

Sisal is great since it lasts for a long time.
I got a wall mounted scratcher for Gizmo (she has no claws, but she uses the scratchers anyway.)

The wall mount is great since you can raise it as the cat grows, and the sisal will not wear out for years.

I would also get the cardboard scratchers. More than one post is a good idea. It's inexpensive and when the cat roughs up the cardboard, you can put in a new 'filler'.

Both solutions and both materials are good; a post is also recommended since it (and the wall mounted sisal) allows the cat to stretch.

I have 2 Turbo scartachers, the plastics rings with the cardboard in the middle, and I also have an Alpine scratcher and my cats love them! I also have the door knob hanging sisal ones, but they don't even look at those
someone mentioned anchoring them to the floor so I think i'll try that

We have a scratching post and the cardboard ones too. They seem to like the cardboard over the other types of posts. I had a post with the sisal on it and none of my cats used it - they liked the edge of the carpet on the post or the cardboard ones.

i have both kinds, but Chip [declawed] is the only one who uses the cardboard ones. Cable & Java, my clawed cats, use the sisal posts. i have one in every room.

You can't hang the sisal pad from a doorknob; it will swing when the cat uses it.
There is a sisal scratcher that goes around the corner of a wall. That's the one I have. It's attached with a couple of screws. As the cat grows, you can mount it higher, and it takes up no floor space.
