The newest additon to my home... aprox 5 week old Kitten Osiris (abandoned at my door) has diarrehea... It is liquidy, His rectum is always wet as he is cleaning himself constantly.... and he is not making it to the box... or he is just not using it. He uses it when I put him in...but I havent seen him go in on his own yet. Until he can get to the vet this week what can I do for this baby? I have tried the canne pumpkin and so far its a no go

You could also try some natural unflavoured, unsweetened yoghurt. Sounds like the little guy may have worms but am glad you are seeing the vet soon. Young kittens can dehydrate very, very quickly. There is a large amount of information on this forum about hydrating cats and you may need to syringe some fluids into the kitten. You must be careful doing it though so no fluid gets into his lungs. Do a search on this forum for more information. I'm sorry I don't have the info right at my fingertips. Some of our other long-time members are more familiar with doing this so hopefully one of them will be along shortly. In the meantime do the search.

I love the name--> very pretty... BUT,, it sounds like worms.. My little Kella has worms too and she's about the same age, a stray as well. It'll take some time for the worming med to take hold.. I was told by the vet to keep her quarantined from my other cats until this is cleared up..I'd makea vet appt right away!

Both of my kittens had awful diarrehea when I switched their cat food. After I noticed the diarrehea I switched back to the original food, the diarrehea lasted about three days after that. I would only let them eat a tiny bit of food for those few days. They weren't really drinking a lot of water so I fed them ice chips and they loved it. I was worried about keeping them hydrated. Maybe your kitten isn't used to the food you are feeding it. Anyhow, let us know how things went at the vet.

alright, So osiris still has yet to have a solid or semi solid poop. So i called the 24 hour animal hospital....asking if they have "regular" office hours today... they said yes asked me what was wrong etc etc... So she tells me as long as he is eating...drinking and playing like a kitten that he could wait until tomorrow to see our regular vet... because they were putting him in as an emergency basis and just the visit to walk in the door is 98$... that is just awful! How an these people really want to help animals if they are commiting high way robbery!

Osiris went to the vet today... they guestimated him at 4-6 weeks and wormed him...then Rx'd albon(spelling) once a day for 13 days...they think he has a intestinal bug of some sort...poor munchkin! She asked if i wanted to test for luke and aids... I thought it was too young but she explained that false negatives are very rare... if it came out positive then she would want to retest but it came out neg... so hes in the clear!
